Application checklist
The documents you'll usually need to apply to study abroad. Every university and visa authority has its own list — your Orbit counsellor confirms yours.
Identity
- Valid passport (check the expiry date)
- Passport-size photos to the required specification
Academic
- SEE / +2 / bachelor's transcripts and certificates
- Character certificates (if requested)
- English test score report
- SAT / GRE / GMAT score report (if required)
Application
- Statement of purpose or personal statement
- Letters of recommendation
- CV / resume
- Work experience letters (if any)
Finances
- Bank statements or balance certificates
- Sponsor letters and relationship documents
- Education loan letters (if applicable)
- Income and tax documents of sponsors
Preparing your documents
- 1Scan documents in colour as clear PDFs or photos, with all four corners visible.
- 2Keep file names simple, for example “Transcript-Bachelors.pdf”.
- 3Make sure names and dates of birth match across your passport, certificates and transcripts.
- 4Ask for recommendation letters early — teachers and employers need time.
Destination-specific documents
Visa documents differ by country (for example a CAS for the UK, an I-20 for the USA or a CoE for Australia). Each destination guide lists the usual visa documents with official links.
Admission, scholarship, loan and visa decisions are made by the relevant institution, lender or government authority and depend on each student's circumstances. Orbit guides and prepares you; it cannot guarantee an outcome.
